Right on the border with the province of Los Santos, you’ll find the district of Mariato, home to ten of the largest beaches in Veraguas and on the Pacific coast of Panamá.

On Playa Palo Seco, you’ll see a huge difference between tides. At high tide, waves swell and the current is strong. Six hours later, at low tide, the water recedes into the distance.

 

Visit Playa Reina, the most popular beach resort, where you’ll find the perfect waves for surfing, hotels, and restaurants. Plus, local boat owners may offer to take you to other beaches in Veraguas and the nearby islands to surf. Keep up the spirit of pure surfing in Morillo, one of the best beach breaks in Panamá. Both of these beaches are great for intermediate and advanced surfers.

 

If you go to Playa Torio, dare to have a more extreme experience and paraglide over the beach. On this beach, you can also camp and enjoy the natural pool at the mouth of the river.

Beaches on the Gulf of Montijo
