Fishing Vacations in the Pacific Riviera

On the Pacific Riviera, one of the best fishing vacations in Panamá awaits you. Complement your beach trip by chasing widely varied and large species. Just an hour from Panama City, you can take a sport fishing trip or catch your next dinner, whether it's from the coast, around the islands, or in the open sea.

Fishing in Otoque Island and Bona

Fishing in Otoque Island and Bona

From the Pacific Riviera you'll find three very accessible points to reach the Otoque and Bona Islands.

From San Carlos, Buenaventura and Punta Chame you have options with different tours and experiences for your fishing plan. In the first two there are marinas with various types of boats and amenities for your trip, and in Punta Chame you can pay for “pangas” from local fishermen to live an authentic adventure departing from the beach itself.

The great advantage of fishing from the Pacific Riviera is the connectivity you have between the beaches, marinas and most well-known fishing spots. By being so close to each other, you'll be able to get to strategic locations faster and have much more time for adventure. In addition, you'll have certified captains who will give you the best tips to have the best experience.

Fishing Seasons in the Pacific

Fishing Seasons in the Pacific

During the winter, from May to the end of December, it's pelagic fish season. These deep-sea fish get a little closer to shore and give you a chance to compete against them.

Catch large specimens of sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus), blue marlin (Makaira nigricans), black marlin (Istiompax indica), yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), mahi-mahi (Coryphaena hippurus) and wahoo (Acanthocybium solandri).

In the dry season or summer months, from January to April, the cold waters of the bottom rise to the surface and with them also the species that are normally below. If you visit us this season, try to catch some snapper (Lutjanidae), jack mackerel (Carangidae), grouper (Epinephelus), pompano dolphinfish (Coryphaena equiselis), albacore tuna (Thunnus alalunga), and many more.

From Panama City, you'll reach the Pacific Riviera by driving along the Pan-American Highway.

The Buenaventura marina is about an hour from the city, and Punta Chame and Vista Mar, in San Carlos, are two hours away.

On the Amador Causeway in Panama City, you'll find a ferry service that takes you to San Carlos, and from there you'll be just minutes away from Vista Mar.

The Pacific Riviera is a great destination for fishing enthusiasts. Don't miss the chance to compete against the best species. Also, if you visit us from July to September, you'll be in whale watching season. Enjoy the Pacific Riviera to the fullest and don't miss out on your catch of the day.
